Cat Wall Project
Our cats reside in large rooms furnished with assorted shelves, tables, chairs, cat trees -- basically whatever is available. This setup makes it difficult to clean thoroughly as the furniture needs to be moved around in order to clean and it means the cats are being disturbed while the cleaning is going on. We have initiated a project to construct cat walls combined with cat trees in the rooms to replace a lot of the random furnishings. This will make it more interesting for the cats and will also provide better access to the catio entrances.
A generous donation in memory of a pet cat, Levi, has been a catalyst for us to begin construction on the cat walls in our largest cat room. We look forward to getting started on this. See the designs for the largest of our 8 rooms. This room can be divided to provide 2 rooms for situations where we need groups of cats. We will be updating this page as we progress on this project. If anyone else has an interest in sponsoring part or all of the upgrade of a room, contact the shelter at greybruce_animalshelter@outlook.com. We are very excited by these designs!! |
One room done (made possible by a generous donation specifically for this project) - 4 rooms to go - excellent work by the Wasaga Beach Woodworkers Club! The cats are loving it and volunteers find it much easier to clean without having to move so much furniture around on the floor. We hope to raise some funds soon to start on .another room.
